Global Epidemic Continues to Evolve, Climate Crisis Looms ...... Humanity's long-term survival and sustainable development are facing unprecedented challenges!


A sustainable future requires collaborative and innovative solutions from the global youth elite, advocating a global governance concept of mutual consultation, construction and sharing, with a more open, inclusive, integrated and resilient perspective and the power of green technology, to shoulder the mission of a beacon of human civilization in a world full of uncertainties.


Youth wisdom is fully released, youth power is growing rapidly, and the influence on global governance is gradually increasing, and young leaders are the decision makers and leaders of the future international social order. As an effective way to discover and cultivate young talents with global outlook and leadership, since 2020, under the framework of the World Summit of Young Scientists, the organizing committee selects no more than 50 outstanding representatives from the fields of science, technology, business, venture capital and art from around the world to join the international "π community" every year, and holds The "Global Young Science and Technology Leaders Roundtable", which integrates across borders, collaborates across fields and gives voice to youth, becomes one of the important permanent agendas of the Summit.

π Community Member Benefits

1. to obtain membership in the global π community, enjoy its benefits and perform its duties

2. participate in the World Summit of Young Scientists as a "Young Global Scientist Leader" to exchange and present research results and activities.

3. to meet with leading scientists, policy makers, entrepreneurs and senior participants of the World Summit of Young Scientists.

4. the π community regularly accepts applications from members for office and residential accommodation for short-term study tours and collaborative research, and makes every effort to provide members with physical space support.

5. innovative projects and ideas can be matched with the World Young Scientist Entrepreneurship Fund and enjoy priority funding consideration to showcase their innovative projects and ideas in order to better serve the world and society

6. You can further discuss with the World Summit of Young Scientists Secretariat and the global π community, and submit suggestions and opinions at any time, and we will support the academic and innovative project proposals of community members as much as possible.



How to become a member of the π community

1. Basic requirements: Candidates need to be born after January 1, 1977 (inclusive) and have the physical ability to work or serve continuously.

2. expertise: expertise in any scientific field with an outstanding research record and an interest in interdisciplinary and cross-disciplinary (e.g., science and technology, humanities, venture capital, etc.) collaborations.    

3. outstanding results: candidates should have a leading role in global science, technology, innovation, venture capital, and business, with 5-15 years of outstanding professional work experience, a sustained record of basic science results, and a consistent record of significant leadership roles, demonstrated leadership in research and otherwise, with groundbreaking contributions and results throughout their careers.

4. service to society: Candidates must practice the concept of "science and technology for global society and sustainable development" and must demonstrate that they are personally serving society through outstanding contributions and deep ethical convictions, with significant results and an interest in translating and communicating the results of their work for social impact.     

5. good character and ethics: the candidate needs to have unblemished personal credit; the candidate should also be in good standing with the community; and the candidate demonstrates good self-awareness and a desire to learn, with an interest in sharing what they have learned in the program more broadly.     

6. nominations: candidates must be nominated by outstanding nominators, including members of previous Young Global Leaders in Science and Technology, heads, professors, CEOs or chairmen of international organizations, universities and research institutions, partner companies, etc., to serve as a voucher for the candidate.     

7. only one candidate can be nominated by each organization each year. All applicants must provide the name of at least one referee who can be contacted for further information about the candidate, and who should indicate their willingness to support the development of the π community and to serve the sustainable development of humanity.       

8. The community accepts self-nominations, but additional application information and references are required.



Nomination method and selection process

1. Candidates should submit their applications and information (scan the QR code below for the application form) by 24:00 on September 30, 2022 at.

2. Candidates are required to complete the application form at the time of registration, and send an email to pi.community@wyss.org.cn submit the following materials.

-Resume (no more than 3 pages); 

-Personal photo (no less than 1M);

-A letter of recommendation from the nominator;

A letter of recommendation from the nominator; -A letter of self-recommendation from the candidate;

-and the necessary supporting documents;

3. October 2022 the jury conducts the evaluation and announces the results.

4. November 2022 the selected candidates participate in the Global Young Science and Technology Leaders Roundtable.
